I’ve created 2 cabinets, one a divided base and the other a standard base. I decided to change the back attachment method from planted to insert and have gone into the edit project. I’ve changed the back panel to 1/4″ in the cabinets tab and the carcass groove width to 1/4″in the carcass tab. I set my carcass groove inset distance to 3/4″ and expected a dado, but what is being drawn is a rabbit so it doesnt appear to be updating (file attached).

Also I also want to build an exact mirror image divided cabinet. I use cutlist plus fx. I’m assuming that the best way to go about that is to finish the divided cabinet design and then do a copy and flip procedure using native sketchup tools rather than the move/mirror function within cabwriter since I don’t want a separate numbered cabinet? That way the cutlist plus fx will pick up the correct number of copies of components and won’t give me a whole new series of components which are identical to my original divided cabinet?

    Hi,

The dado style back attachment method you are looking for isn’t supported in CabWriter 5. It is, however, on our list to add for CabWriter 6, which will be out this Summer.

Your .skp file didn’t come through because it was too large. Can you use a method like Dropbox to send me a link to it? Send the link to [email protected]. Do you intend to cut the parts on a CNC? If so, I don’t believe the native SketchUp method of copying and flipping will produce the correct DXF files you will need. To explain why is too lengthy to explain in an email. But the simplest explanation I can give you is that while a side and its copied and flipped side is still the same component in SketchUp, in the real world they are completely different parts. One needs to be laid down on the CNC machine in the counter-clockwise fashion while the other in a clock-wise fashion. Your best bet is to use the CabWriter Move/Copy tool and accept the longer cut list.

    Joe….
