SpectatorGreetings,
I just updated my Sketchup pro 2022 to Sketchup Pro2024 and I tired to reinstall the license for Cabriter 7.0.3 and Cabwriter will not activate the license that I have. Do I need to remove my current device under my acount tab ? I updated Sketch up as I watched the video for whats new in Cabwriter 8 and liked the changes and was hoping to install that today but now I am stuck with getting my license to work with Cabwriter 7.0.3 so that I can update to 8.0 Thank you in advance for any assistance.Note: I have tried multiple times following the in Sketchup , Extensions/Cabwriter/Activate License / typed in my email and then my license key to no avail.

SpectatorHi Jack,
We are experiencing an issue on our server that is not permitting user to activate a license. We are working on it and hope to have a solution soon. In the meantime, if you call me on 413-961-9115 we can set up a Zoom meeting and I can get you going with a 30-day trial on CabWriter 8.

SpectatorHi Jack,
Can you describe what is happening with the upgrade and license key? I might be able to fix it for you without a zoom…
Thanks,

SpectatorI upgraded my Sketchup to 2024 Pro on Sketchup start up as I was being prompted to upgrade Sketchup. Then I used the link to Cabwriter page inside the extension as version 7 was still installed in Sketchup. This took me to the download page on the Cabwriter website. I installed Cabwriter 8. I was then asked to add lic key and email and the response back was that I did not have a valid lic key. I then went to Cabwriter and checked my downloads and license and there is not a key for the Version 8.
Do I need to reinstall Cabwriter 7 ?

SpectatorCurrently when I open Sketchup I get a prompt to activate a 30 day trial license for Cabwriter. Will reinstalling CW 7 remove CW 8? or do I need to remove CW 8 then reinstall CW 7 ?

SpectatorHi Jack,
When you get the prompt to activate the 30-day license click the Yes button. Then you will be operating on a 30-day license for CW 8. I will be out of the office tomorrow morning. But if you are still having problems call me at 413-961-9115.

SpectatorHi Jack,
Also, if you are up to date with your support contract, you can go to this link on the website, while you’re logged in:
And get a free upgrade to CabWriter 8 which will give you a license key that you can use to activate the software and not have to deal with the free trial. Just follow the instructions on that page.
Thanks,
