    Hi Joe and Greg,

You have written a great program in CabWriter, I’ve enjoyed playing with it. I started working with my Father when I was ten, we’ve been cabinet makers for at least four generations amateur and professional. I turn seventy in June. I work in Washington County Maine – the poorest county in the US. Custom cabinet jobs are rare , here you turn to whatever is on offer. mostly houses and rehab projects. I was interested in the Pro version, but my last full cabinet project was two years ago! I just can’t justify the cost of the program. I use Cutlist FX in planning stages backed up by story sticks (physical ones), because as you know a slight error in data entry results in a costly mistake.

I also couldn’t find your wood moisture calculator in recent CabWriter beta releases and that program is one I use whatever the project.

Hi Joe, I won’t be able to buy cabwriter as it is priced out of my range for the few cabinet projects I get. So my question is will CutList Bridge still be available after the release of CabWriter 1.0?

Sorry to say I couldn’t get CabWriter to reinstal. I tried several ways, including changing the extension from .rbz to .rb and this time the SU warning was correct the rb would not load.

I have to swing a hammer for the next several days but will get back to the problem this weekend. My next try will be to move all my SU files off my computer to a thumb drive and start from a new .exe file

    Yes Joe,

It worked fine, I just got back to my computer so I’ll try reinstalling CabWriter and let you know how that goes.

Thanks again for all your help.

    Joe,

I found multiple plugin folders on my machine doing a windows search and deleted them all. My purpose was to delete a corrupted copy of CabWriter and CutListBridge which I couldn’t delete otherwise. I then did a repair copy of SU2016 pro when that didn’t instal a new plugins folder I did a clean instal. in each case i searched for the plugins folder using the ruby window and got the attached error message.

Within SU Extensions>Sketchucation>Open plugin folder the plugins folder is opened (2nd attachment) So it’s there but not recognized as some of the plugins do not show up on View>Tool Bars or in Tools. This includes CutList Bridge. Cab Writer is there.

Thanks Greg and Joe, That should do what i need. I look forward to getting the link to your program/ extension. I do use labels in my work, but this should make it much easier to coordinate the labels with both the spread sheet and layout drawings when I’m in the shop.

I look forward to using CabWriter.

    Hi Joe,
Thanks for your reply. First I haven’t got cabwriter yet, I can’t find a download link and assume (the mot dangerous word in the language) that I must be accepted as a Beta tester before I get the link.

I mean that my problem is at the time that I go to the shop and start cutting the materials I find that converting the CutList Bridge > CutlistFx spread sheet to parts for individual cabinets is mind numming The spread sheet for a full kitchen’s worth of cabinets runs from 7 to 10 pages of very dense data. I check off each piece and apply a label as i go, but still find mistakes (mine). I am after all “a bear of little brain”.

I did not realize that that the SU layers are subassemblies that would indeed make my idea extremely difficult to impossible.

Thanks again for all your work.
