    Hi James,

The problem you are having is actually two problems. The first problem is a SketchUp problem, not CabWriter or ClosetWriter. The partition between the two drawers is 3/4″ thick. You have your system hole depth set for 1/2″ and you are trying to drill a hole 1/2″ deep hole from both sides. The second hole collides with the first hole and SketchUp raises an exception. It can’t handle this. Try making your partition 1″ thick.

The second problem is a real ClosetWriter problem. I f ixed a problem where the Insert a Drawer tool would place a drawer slider hole in the wrong place if the sides or partitions on either side of the drawer started at different heights. Only the starting height of the left side or partition was calculated and used for the right side or partition hole position. This is the first bug reported and the fix will appear in the CabWriter 6.0.1 release. If you need a pre-release with this fix let me know. Otherwise I will hold the official release to see if there are other bugs reported in the next few weeks.

    Hi James,

I have your model and I am looking at it. I will get back to you as soon as I have an answer for you.

    Hi,

Are you trying to copy a part to use in the same cabinet or in a different cabinet? If it is the same cabinet you can copy and move it with native SketchUp tools. If you want to use it in a different cabinet you can use the native SketchUp tool, but then you have to rename the part and give it the same cabinet number as the new cabinet. Let me know if you still have problems and we can do a Zoom meeting to demonstrate. My email address is [email protected].

    Hi Michiel,

Your model didn’t have any Scenes. To create the necessary scenes us File > CabWriter > Create Basic Scene Set. You must also use File > CabWriter to LayOut > LayOut Document Setup to let CabWriter know the particulars of your default template in LayOut. See the email I sent you.

    Hi,
Go to Extensions > CabWriter > Open User’s Guide and begin reading at page 223. Let me know if you still have problems.

    Hi Guys,
The only suggestion I might make is to look into using SketchUp native Dynamic Components. But those would not be compatible with CutList Bridge and hence you would have to find another way to generate cut lists for them.

    Hi Bryan,

Do you have the Pro or Home version. Move/Copy/Mirror is available in the Pro version only.

    Hi,

The dado style back attachment method you are looking for isn’t supported in CabWriter 5. It is, however, on our list to add for CabWriter 6, which will be out this Summer.

Your .skp file didn’t come through because it was too large. Can you use a method like Dropbox to send me a link to it? Send the link to [email protected]. Do you intend to cut the parts on a CNC? If so, I don’t believe the native SketchUp method of copying and flipping will produce the correct DXF files you will need. To explain why is too lengthy to explain in an email. But the simplest explanation I can give you is that while a side and its copied and flipped side is still the same component in SketchUp, in the real world they are completely different parts. One needs to be laid down on the CNC machine in the counter-clockwise fashion while the other in a clock-wise fashion. Your best bet is to use the CabWriter Move/Copy tool and accept the longer cut list.

    Hi Jack,

Unfortunately yes. SketchUp does not provide the option to transfer the contents of a previous Plugins folder to the next (new) version. However, what I do is simply copy the contents of the SketchUp 2021 Plugins folder and paste it in the SketchUp 2022 Plugins folder. If you don’t know the location of your Plugins folder you can find it by typing the following line into the input field of the Ruby Console and press Enter on the keyboard.

    Sketchup.find_support_file(“Plugins/”)

You can open the Ruby Console with the menu Extensions > Developer > Ruby Console. Let me know if you have further questions.

    Hi Jeremy,

Just to demonstrate, attached is the model equivalent of your picture.

    Hi Jeremy,

Sorry, I didn’t see that link. But now I am really confused as to what the issue is. According to the model your stile is 2 1/2″ wide and the sides are 3/4″. 2 1/2″ – (2 * 3/4″) is 1″. Divide that by 2 and you get 1/2″, meaning the stile protrudes from the sides by 1/2″, and looks like a 1/2″ side setback. This is very much like what I see in the picture except I can’t (easily) make measurements from the picture. So what I am saying is the picture looks like the model and I don’t see a problem.

    Hi Jeremy,

I can’t tell what the problem is from this picture alone. I need the .skp file along with it. Please provide a link to you.skp file. I do have some questions though.

    1. What is the drawn thickness of the box sides and what is the actual thickness? When I look at the picture I don’t see a gap between the sides which I would expect because actual thickness of plywood is generally less than nominal thickness. Most cabinetmakers use a spacer to compensate.
    2. What is the width of your stiles?
    3. Do you have a side setback and what is the amount of setback?

    Hi Dan,

I think that all of the holes that need to be corrected can be found on the CNC Boring tab unless you are using Line Boring in which case go to that tab. If you send me a link to your model I can be more specific.

    Hi Jeremy,

You can use Dropbox or the equivalent Google, Microsoft or Apple facility where you can upload the file and send us a link so that we can download it. But Greg is correct. Neither of us can visualize what you are describing.
