    Hi Fernando,
Aren’t you operating on a 30-day free trial? If so you do not need a license number. When SketchUp is started you should see a message asking if you want to begin the free trial period. Click yes. See attached image. Stay well and let me know if you have a problem.

    Hi Richard,

Any Story Stick drawn on the ground plane (B = 0.0) will be a base cabinet. Any Story Stick drawn above the ground plane, no matter how little abouve, will be an upper cabinet. There is still a month before release of CabWriter 4 (mid-Jume). If you want a Beta copy I can send one to you.

Are you asking if we will draw the beads, or do we account for them in the cut list. We already account for them in the cut list. See the attached image. Notice you can specify a bead width (Bead Oversize Allowance) for the face frame stiles and rails. We do not draw them, and have no plans at the moment to do so.

    Hi Zack,

No, you will not have to pay full price as long as you keep your CabWriter Support Membership current, The CabWriter Support Membership costs $120/yr. When you made your original purchase you automatically got 1 yr support, so some time before that year is up you need to purchase the $120 support for the next year. Again, as long as that membership is current, and does not lapse, you will have access to the most recent version of CabWriter.

    Hi Lynn,

There is one design concept that you might want to look at and study if you have never heard about it. Google ‘The Kitchen Triangle’. You will find lots of information on the subject.

    Hi Lynn,

Designing a house customized to your personal tastes is pretty exciting. Especially if you are a woodworker and your spouse is involved. Look forward to seeing some pics and CabWriter models.

    Hi Lynn,

I am probably not the person to answer this question, but I will offer my 2 cents worth of opinion.

My background too is furniture design and woodworking. I have used the golden ratio on a number of occasions in my designs and it definitely helps create a pleasing look. But I didn’t get carried away with it, and while I am not an architect or professional cabinetmaker, I don’t think the golden ratio plays a big roll in cabinet design. First of all you are restricted by any number of standards: height of a counter top, width of dishwashers, ovens, trash baskets, refrigerators etc. Not to mention the f act that a lot of kitchen hardware widths are dictated by cabinet width in 2 inch increments. Further, wall lengths are random and long relative to counter top heights, already destroying the golden ratio. Kitchen design is mostly driven by functionality. So while the golden ratio and other architectural tools are useful when the situation permits, I don’t think they play a big role. It is important to remember that the nautilus shell wasn’t designed using the golden ratio. Rather nature created a beautiful design, and millions of years later we humans discovered a rectangle that occurs in a geometric way. So while it is a tool, it is not definitive.

    HI,
I’m not sure what defaults you are looking for. If it is the CabWriter 3 Comprehensive defaults you are looking for, they are located inside the ZIP package you downloaded when you downloaded the CabWriter 3 Comprehensive video. You can download the entire video series again or just the defaults the following web page:

    https://cabwritersoftware.com/cabwriter-3-comprehensive-training/

If you are referring to some other defaults please provide more detail.

    Hi Zack,
I am working on the problem you are having with your model. It is actually a CabWriter problem and not something you are doing wrong. I almost have it nailed down and should have a fix for you sometime tomorrow.

    Hi Zack,

Sorry for getting back so late. This was a holiday weekend and I was away. But I will get to your model this afternoon. Thanks,

in reply to: When will CabWriter support SketchUp 2020? #43592

    Hi James,
As far as I am aware, there are no changes in SketchUp 2020 that adversely affect CabWriter 3 and its models. I have been a 2020 beta tester since the beginning of beta testing and have found no issues. They did change the name of Layers to Tags, but it is a name change only (perpetrated on SketchUp users just to confuse them). We are working on CabWriter 4 at the moment, and I don’t see any issues there either (so far). There is however, one issue that Mac users should be aware of with regards to SketchUp 2020; the latest Catalina operating system has some issues with 2020. Most of them can be resolved by re-installing SketchUp after upgrading to Catalina.

    Hi Zack,
If you ZIP both the .cwd and the .skp file you can then attach the ZIP file and it will accept it. Please send them a long. I couldn’t tell anything from the annotation file. And also, please tell me the details of the cabinet you are trying to draw (height, width, depth etc.).
